Rooftops

I work on the 14th floor. Which, besides the long wait in front of the elevators, also comes with a nice perk, the view. Those of you familiar with the blog have seen sunsets and other things from this floor. I wanted to shoot the sunset through the winter fog today, but instead, I ended up shooting fog and clouds. So I decided to work a little on shadows, shapes, and on these rooftops I won’t be seeing in a couple of months anymore. It’s a set of random shots, I like random shots. Enjoy 🙂

Most of these have been taken with the Minolta 500mm f/8. It was interesting to play around with it on this particular subject given the focal length. I could have done many more abstract shots for instance, but it’s been a very foggy and cloudy day, I hope tomorrow will bring the sun back a little, these foggy sunsets with the Basarab bridge somewhere not too far are amazing.

Bye for now 🙂

Corsica, the first shots.

I finally can start posting photographs from my trip to Corsica in early January. I started sorting and post-processing before my grandpa got sick and passed away and never really had the time or high enough spirits to get back to them. Until today. It’s been an extremely motivating day photography-wise  (I’ve been featured as a top “chimer” on Chime.in today which brought me over 150 followers in just a few hours) so I decided to snap out of it. And it feels good. It’s my first “real” post as a professional, which also feels good.

So here we are, enjoy!

I have many more photographs to go through, some very beautiful panoramas, I now have the motivation to get back to my workflow, I hope you’ll like what you see so far!

The Photography Class – The B&W Assignments

Here are the shots I presented last night. Most of them have lived up to my expectations, which is good. I would have done better with more time, but I know I’ll do better next time too 🙂

I loved last night’s class because we spent a lot of time looking at each others shots, commenting every single one of them based on three criteria: technique, aesthetics, and creativity. I’ve seen lots of very, very nice shots from everyone’s assignments, it’s very helpful to see one’s vision about the same things (most of them went out on Saturday and walked down Calea Victoriei, so you could see pretty much the same subjects shot, but with different angles and approaches – very constructive), I was so impressed by some of them that I couldn’t even remember if I had at least one good shot in my picks.

In the end, after selecting everyone’s best shot, we “graded” them on the three criteria I previously mentioned. Four of us tied up at 28 points. I was one of these four with my lucky #7 with a nice 10 out of 10 for aesthetics 🙂
